Marlene Nichols
has been at the drawing board with
her newest creation, Dress Kiss Me, and will be exposing herself —
er, the piece—Friday nights in October.
A teaser...

Mona wants it all: beauty, fashion,
the perfect Hollywood kiss. But after having her pants stolen at a sample
sale, she’s forced to buy a dress with
more attitude than she bargained for.

From the imagination of writer and
solo performer Marlene Nichols
comes a look at life in the big city, where everything has a mind of its
own and everyone has attitude to
spare. Well, don’t just stand there,
Dress Kiss Me!

Part writer, part showman,
part Southern belle, part
New York City wisecracker,
Nichols believes that if you’re
not laughing, you’re not really living.

Her solo show Seeing Voices
premiered in New York City
in 2008, and was selected for
the AmericanTheater of Harlem
and the Women@Work festivals.

In September of that year,
she received an Artward Bound
residency to the White Oak
Plantation in Florida, where
she developed portions of her
solo show, Just Back From
Dreaming
, while running around
Baryshnikov’s dance studio.

More Marlene...

Rip off your girdle and turn up the blues with Rum Boogie! Set against the backdrop
of Memphis, Tennessee, with its grand hotels and down ‘n dirty blues clubs, the play
profiles six bawdy and irreverent characters, each clinging to dreams of freedom
as they come to terms with the cost of always wanting more.

“If you can’t play with the big dogs,
better stay on the porch with the pups.”
